In 1903, the western frontier was hit by a coal rush. Clive Landry owns a mining empire that promises
abundant coal within Turtle Mountain. He secretly hands over control to his ambitious heir, Helena
Landry, who dominates the community, led by mining royalty Jesse and Grace Seager. When mine safety
concerns are raised, Helena uses her two deadliest weapons - Chester Kulick, her uncompromising enforcer, and Ezekiel “Zeke” Graham, a seasoned professional at disrupting labour unions. Zeke is still grieving his brother Isaac’s death during their last job and blames himself for what happened. He befriends Jesse Seager and uncovers the source of the misfortune that befell Isaac. During his investigation of the mine,he uncovers ominous signs that hint at the looming danger threatening Frank.
Zeke’s loyalty is questioned when Turtle Mountain unleashes its fury, burying homes, lives, and hope under tons of unyielding rock. A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolds, with numerous lives lost and hope seemingly extinguished. Jesse and Zeke are forced to confront their deepest secrets. However, hope emerges from the darkest shadows as the dust settles and the sun sets over the rubble of Frank’s town. Theirdoom ultimately becomes their salvation, but the revelation that the disaster was not a mine explosion but the mountain itself crushing their families is a shocking and tragic twist. In town, Helena seizes the opportunity to cement her position at the cost of her allies. She makes an unforgivable promise to Grace, who faces unparalleled tragedy. As the miners arrive in town, Jesse is overwhelmed with grief, and Zeke confronts Helena to dismantle her father’s empire before they can reopen the mine.
